Rocambole garlic is a hardneck that typically has 6-10 symmetrical cloves per bulb that are easy to peel. Rocamboles are well known for their excellent flavor and therefore are widely grown.

The Rocambole garlic usually develops one group of cloves, which can be easily peeled and grows around a woody stalk. Although their loose skin makes it a favorite garlic variety of chefs, it also shortens its lifespan compared to other garlic, typically expect a shelf life of around six months.

Most Rocamboles start to dehydrate and sprout by January end. However, if the bulbs are properly grown and cured prior to storage, they can get a longer shelf life. The color of the cloves can vary between tan and brown, with double cloves found common in certain types of this garlic variety.
